AGS – Silver thiogallate
0.53 µm - 11 µm
AgGaS2 (AGS) crystal is a leading material for non-linear optical (NLO) laser devices operating in the infrared (IR) range, including CO and CO₂ lasers, waveplates, and tunable optical parametric oscillators (OPO), among others.
The AGS crystal offers one of the highest levels of nonlinearity among crystals in the NIR-IR range. It is available in large sizes and as thin plates with broadband anti-reflective (AR) coatings.
- Applications
- Features
- Effective for frequency doubling in the mid-IR radiation range.
- Supports non-linear three-wave interactions.
- Primary crystal for DFG systems, pumped by 1.2–1.6 μm and 1.6–2.4 μm sources for 2.4–11 μm wavelength generation.
- Utilized in opto-medical instruments.
- Applied in spectroscopy applications.
- Used in high-performance infrared (IR) waveplates.
- Suitable for 2nd and 3rd harmonic generation in CO and CO₂ laser systems.
- 3photon AGS crystals offer transparency from 530 nm to 11 µm, enabling frequency generation and optical parametric oscillation (OPA) across this range.
- Can be directly pumped at 1064 nm or in the 1500-1600 nm range for OPO systems.
- AGS crystals have the highest figure of merit for non-linear interactions in the near-infrared (NIR) and far-infrared (FIR) regions, outperforming other IR crystals.
